1. Our Commitment
We want you to be completely satisfied with your DDWinelands purchase. If for any reason you are not happy with your order, we are here to help. Please read this policy carefully before making a return request.
2. Returns — Standard Orders
We accept returns on unworn, undamaged items within 30 days of the delivery date, subject to the conditions below.
2.1 Conditions for Return
To be eligible for a return, your item must meet all of the following conditions:
- Returned within 30 days of the delivery date
- Unworn and in its original, undamaged condition
- Accompanied by the original grading certificate (GIA, IGI, or equivalent)
- Returned in the original DDWinelands packaging, including all inserts, care cards, and accessories
- Not resized, engraved, altered, or set into jewellery after delivery
Items that do not meet these conditions will not be accepted for return and will be sent back to you at your cost.
2.2 Items Not Eligible for Return
- Custom-made or personalised orders (including engraved, resized, or bespoke items)
- Items that have been worn, damaged, or altered after delivery
- Items returned without the original grading certificate
- Items returned after the 30-day window without prior written agreement from DDWinelands
3. ECTA Cooling-Off Right (South African Customers)
In terms of section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), South African consumers who purchase via electronic transaction have the right to cancel their order without reason or penalty within 7 (seven) business days of receiving the goods.
To exercise this right, the goods must be returned in their original, unworn, undamaged condition with all certificates and packaging intact. The cost of return postage under the ECTA cooling-off right is borne by the customer. Refunds will be processed within 30 days of receipt of the returned goods.
This cooling-off right does not apply to goods that have been custom-made, engraved, resized, or otherwise personalised to your specifications.
4. Exchanges
We offer exchanges on eligible items within 30 days of delivery. If you would like to exchange your diamond for a different stone or specification, please contact us at info@ddwinelands.com before returning your item. We will guide you through the process and confirm availability of the desired alternative.
Where the replacement item is of higher value, you will be invoiced for the difference. Where it is of lower value, we will refund the difference to your original payment method.
5. Defective or Incorrect Items
If your item arrives defective, damaged in transit, or does not match the description on your order confirmation, please contact us within 7 days of delivery at info@ddwinelands.com with:
- Your order number
- A description of the issue
- Clear photographs of the item and packaging
We will investigate promptly and, where the defect or error is confirmed, we will arrange a replacement, repair, or full refund at no cost to you, including return postage.
In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), all goods carry an implied warranty against defects for 6 (six) months from the date of delivery. If a defect arises within this period, you may elect to have the goods repaired, replaced, or refunded.
6. How to Initiate a Return
To start a return or exchange, please follow these steps:
- Email us at info@ddwinelands.com with your order number and the reason for your return.
- We will respond within 2 business days with a return authorisation and instructions.
- Package your item securely in the original DDWinelands packaging, including all certificates and accessories.
- Ship the item to the return address provided in our instructions using a tracked, insured courier service.
- Email us the tracking number once dispatched.
We strongly recommend using an insured courier for your return. DDWinelands does not accept liability for items lost or damaged in return transit where the customer arranged their own uninsured shipping.
7. Return Postage Costs
- Defective or incorrect items: Return postage is covered by DDWinelands.
- Change of mind returns (within 30 days): Return postage is the responsibility of the customer.
- ECTA cooling-off returns: Return postage is the responsibility of the customer.
- Exchanges: Return postage for the original item is the responsibility of the customer. We cover outbound postage on the replacement item.
8. Refunds
Once we receive and inspect your return, we will notify you of the outcome within 3 business days. If your return is approved, your refund will be processed to your original payment method within 30 days of receipt of the returned goods.
Refunds are made in South African Rand (ZAR) to the original payment method. International customers should be aware that the ZAR amount refunded may differ in their local currency due to exchange rate fluctuations between the time of purchase and the time of refund. DDWinelands is not responsible for currency conversion differences.
9. Non-Returnable Circumstances
DDWinelands reserves the right to decline a return where:
- The item shows signs of wear, damage, or alteration not caused by a manufacturing defect
- The original grading certificate is missing or has been tampered with
- The item has been set into jewellery or otherwise modified after delivery
- The return is initiated outside the 30-day window without prior written agreement
